2026 San Francisco Wine Competition

Our 2024 Riesling Semi-Dry earned Gold at the 2026 San Francisco International Wine Competition, one of the largest and most respected wine competitions in the country. The wine has not yet been released. Consider this a first look at what is coming out of our cellar.

Riesling is one of the most site-expressive varieties grown in Northern Michigan. The region's cool climate and sandy soils produce grapes with natural acidity and aromatic intensity that few other growing regions can replicate. Semi-Dry is the style that best captures that character for many drinkers, offering fruit-forward approachability without sacrificing complexity.

At Bel Lago, winemaking is equal parts art and science. Every decision, from vine to barrel, is made with the finished wine in mind. That precision is what a competition like San Francisco rewards, and it is what our team brings to every vintage.
