SKI • SIP • SOUP

We were thrilled to host our winter SKI • SIP • SOUP event at Bel Lago Winery's North Farm location in February. The event fell on an especially beautiful day, and featured a cross-country ski or hike through the vineyards with our talented winemaker Blake Lougheed, followed by a soup and wine tasting in the Granary.

As guests arrived, they were invited to say hello to our herd of Scottish Highlanders, explore the barn, or chat with Blake around the fire. Once everyone arrived, Blake led them on an informative and delightful cross-country ski or hike, sharing his extensive knowledge of our vineyards and winemaking process along the way.

After the outdoor activities, guests joined us in the Granary for a soup and wine tasting. Our soups were a hit, and each one paired perfectly with our award-winning wines. The spice in the vegan African Peanut soup beautifully complimented the floral, fruity notes of our 2017 Gewurztraminer while the Highlander Beef Noodle soup offered a rich and savory option that paired perfectly with the fuller bodied reds Blake brought to share. The Dill Havarti soup was a creamy and delicious choice paired beautifully with our 2017 Pinot Noir.

In addition to the soup and wine pairing, guests were able to sample wines from Bel Lago's Library Collection. It was a true delight to share these exceptional wines with our guests, some of which dated back as late as 2005.

Overall, the event was a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase what we do at Bel Lago, and to offer insight into what we have planned. We take great pride in producing exceptional wines and offering unique experiences for our guests. The combination of outdoor activities, delicious food, and remarkable wine made for a truly unforgettable day. We look forward to hosting many more events in the future and sharing the beauty of Northern Michigan with all who visit us at Bel Lago.
